Re: Sutil vs. Lux
...living the dream OC.....what is an elliptical trainer, and does she wear an apron...??

Sao Paulo under threat..
...I was intrigued to see the Brazilian government, via its Sao Paulo authorities forcibly evicting a whole township of poor, and dispossessed, using riot police, teargas etc, in Sao Paulo state, struck me as odd that everyone makes a fuss over the Kingdom of Bahrain, trying to control its citizenry,[and the effect it had on a gutless GP] but when a 'democracy' Knocks seven bells out of people whose only crime is to occupy land that belongs to some wealthy 'voters' nobody shows any concern.....

Re: ....how much??!!
I guess my mind took a bit of a hit when I saw on Speed channel the broadcast of an FIA GT1 race from Mongolia...Mongolia?
I have always thought of Gengis Khan (a bit before my time, though) and single horsepower, when it came to Mongolia.
Love watching FIA GT1, good stuff and that's actually quite a nice track in Ordos, China and not a single pony in sight.
Strange what those long Canadian winters do to someones mind :-)

Re: Lotus reactive suspension ban
I just read their explanation, pretty lame, if that's the best the could come up with, they haven't got a clue and have to make it up as they go along.
Who knew that a reactive suspension would have an aerodynamic effect?
Somebody should explain to them that the DRS does as well.
To paraphrase Bugs Bunny "what a bunch of maroons"

Re: 2012 Race card split BBC/SKY
...Hey Mike, I thought I had difficulty sleeping..., you are correct when you blame the BBc's ineptitude for what is happening to sports coverage, and railing against the high pay that many of it's staff command, usually defended by the argument that it is the industry standard or, when you work in the public sector, 'renumeration is commensurate with private sector pay' which oddly enough is how union leaders defend their huge salary, and pension deals, whilst their members get to fight their cause on the picket line, and usually get rock-all...however, I digress, pay-per-view will become the norm for a while, but the take up will be lower than needed to fund these events, all the while the clever characters on t'interweb will be working out how to get it for free, eventually, Sky or otherwise will be offering the package as part of a fresh deal that costs next to nowt, to neutralize the web, in the meantime unless the FIA forces parity when it comes to spending on the F1 teams, the once mighty Williams will follow Tyrell, Minardi, the real Lotus, Brabham etc...

Re: bliss
Great post Mike. Just makes me wonder how the people making the decisions at the FIA who actually experienced those sounds like ourselves can seriously want turbo engines back.
Murrrrrrrrrghhhhhhhhhh - yuck.

Re: Robert kubica latest injury
I agree with oldcanuck. How much bad luck can a man have?
To be honest I thought all the talk about him making a comeback this year was extremely overoptimistic, but this is absolutely terrible news and could well mean the end of any chance he had of getting back into F1. It was looking less and less likely he would have a seat and I think the few more months this will cost will mean the door closes.

Robert kubica latest injury
Robert Kubica has just broken his leg in italy

Re: Marko you are a Mutt....
Sorry Achilles, I grew up in Geneva, I blame it on my poor command of the English language :-)

Replacement Circuits
With talk of Barcelona and Valencia considering their futures in the sport, and with Malaysia and China repeatedly looking at decreasing crowds and increased costs, If these circuits were to end their association with F1, which tracks would you like to see replace them.
For me I'd like to see somewhere like Magnycours return, or even Kyalami, and a return of the European GP being a race that is held on a different track each year.

Re: The FIA don't learn
perhaps every car should carry indicators so that they can let other drivers know what intentions they have...
and perhaps someone walking in front of the cars waving a flag to warn others that a dangerous vehicle, driven by a potential maniac, is approaching...
And then if the engines are taken out, and the drivers have to propel themselves forward by the use of two pedals...

Re: Happy New Year
Oldcanuck - as Mike will tell you, we don't follow football (soccer) either. We watch Aston Villa. They play something that looks like it came out of the rear end of a cow :-)

Sausages and Onion Gravy
I love to eat sausages in onion gravy whilst watching the F1 on telly in my flat.
What do you like to eat whilst watching the F1?
*HUGS*

Re: AUSTIN - A BREATH OF CLEAN AIR?
....Bernie's rules and methods of doing business are well known, and have been for years, so to accuse him of being the guilty party in the Austin negotiations may be a little off the mark...would you get in a swimming pool with a shark with no chain mail...?
It turns out PG that while Texas is Americas largest supplier of home-grown oil, it is also the leading contender in wind, and solar farms, a happy coincidence of geology, and climate, and the massive scale that everyone associates with Texas, so in a broad sense they are quite a green state, look out for the general sponsorship being all energy related, on the hoardings round the track....will that be on the highlight prog..., or the ones we can see live...??

Trouble at Yahoo.....
..I am reading that Yahoo are in the doldrums, and that a chinese consortium is looking to purchase the entire group, so maybe Yahoo as we know it, is
about to get a makeover, will this change this board? Eurosport? will we see a 'Ceefax' style of reporting to save money? Already you need to take several steps to access the board, and response has been significantly less than in the past. I have noticed that people are responding more on the 'comments' page, available for each bulletin, despite the lack of opportunity to respond directly. Does anyone know what is happening with Yahoo, or why? does anyone care.....?

Re: that time of year.
Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a healthy Happy New Year.

Re: Rule change for 2012
No no no no no no no no no, Mike.
Well, okay, yes, but only because we have discovered that Canucks who dribble all over their bibs also use the word scumbag :-)

Re: TR dismisses both drivers
To be fair, we don't know whether TR had told the drivers earlier on in the year to have a look somewhere else.
To be honest it is no surprise that Ricciardo gort one of the seats because he is 99.9% being prepared for Webber's cockpit next year.
No, you're right, they're scumbags :-)

Re: Professor Sid Watkins
Knighthood's get bought, and some get awarded to the criminals such as Politicians, and those others that serve their Country. There are some that deserve their gongs, and there are some that should have it chained to their ankles with links the size used on the Ark Royal and thrown over the side - but to not even consider such a worthy recipient of an award is so, so wrong.
The man is F1, along with SJS and the others that shaped F1 into what we have (safety wise) at the minute - and if you feel the need to argue/debate the fact - then please - do your homework first.
If any man is more deserving of an acknowledgement of what he has done for human kind, both in and out of F1, apart from those risking their lives for Queen and Country, then the first name heading the New Years Honors list should be that of the Prof's.

Re: Daft rules...
...I like the colored lines idea, could be the next suggestion by Bernie, as he is sat in his sponge bath wreaking his revenge on miscreants, while playing with puppets of the various drivers on a giant playmat....
..my karting goes back a long way OC, i'm not very good, but I enjoy taking part, at the level I play at, drivers respect the rules, and each other, the post-race chats are usually friendly, and full of apologetic laughter, explaining our 'bumps' or 'nudges', which is what you get running around UK tracks in winter...on slicks..LOL
